GOLD PANNING

There are very few things that measure up to the excitement of finding gold. We invite you to immerse yourself in the history of the Black Hills and feel what it was like to be a prospector panning for gold 100 years ago. At the Black Hills Mining Museum, you can roll up your sleeves, get wet and harvest the rewards of panning for gold!

Gold panning takes place in our indoor panning tank. With the help of an experienced gold panner you will learn how it was done before modern technology. Each panner leaves with their very own collection of gold they panned themselves.
